In short, EDGE is a technology that increases data rates. In the world of abbreviations, EDGE is also known as (E)GPRS when it is used to enhance GPRS networks.
In practice, this means faster data when operating in faster networks And more practically still, this means that you can enjoy more versatile services and communication using your Nokia 7200: images, services and connections are faster than in the "traditional" GPRS networks.
However, this does not mean that you should worry about being in an (E)GPRS area or not. Your Nokia 7200 will let you know. If (E)GPRS is not available, it automatically uses the GPRS connections.
