Creating a connection

You can connect your Nokia 3660 phone to a compatible PC in two ways: using an infrared connection or using a Bluetooth connection.

Using an infrared connection

  1. Ensure that an infrared driver is installed on the PC.
  2. Activate the infrared connection from the phone. (Go to Menu, open the Connectivity folder and select Modem.)
  3. Make sure that the infrared port of the phone is facing the infrared port of the PC, and that infrared communication is enabled on the PC.
  4. In Nokia Modem Options, select the connection type and speeds that you want and click OK.
  5. The connection is now ready.

Using a Bluetooth connection

  1. Ensure that a Bluetooth card is inserted into the PC Card slot of your computer, and that the Bluetooth software is installed.
  2. Activate the Bluetooth connection in your phone. (Go to Menu > Connectivity and select Modem. If you are using Bluetooth for the first time, you are asked to give a Bluetooth name to your phone. Write a name or use the default name 'Nokia 3660'.) Then select Bluetooth On.
  3. Activate the DUN (Dial-up Networking) or FAX profile in the Bluetooth software. Then activate Bluetooth device discovery from the Bluetooth software. For information on how to do these tasks, refer to the user documentation of the Bluetooth software.
  4. If you are connecting your Nokia 3660 phone to the PC using a Bluetooth connection for the first time, you need to pair the devices. To pair the devices you need to enter a passcode for both devices. Create your own passcode (1-16 characters long, numeric) and enter the same passcode in both the phone and the PC when requested. This passcode is used only once and you do not need to memorize it.
  5. Authorize the connection between your Nokia 3660 phone and the PC. Select Yes when the connection request prompt Do you want to accept the connect request appears on the phone's display. You can set your PC as authorized, which means that connection between your phone and your PC is made without separate authorization in future. To do this, go to the Paired devices view on your phone, scroll to the device and select Options. Select Set as authorized.
  6. In Nokia Modem Options, select the connection type and speeds that you want and click OK.
  7. The connection is now ready.

If the connection is unsuccessful, try the following:

  • Check that Bluetooth is activated on your phone
  • Check that you are trying to connect to the correct device
  • Check that the distance between your phone and the PC is not more than 10 meters
  • Delete your device from the Bluetooth Neighborhood (select device, click your right mouse button and select Delete) and then run the Device Discovery again. After you have done this, repeat steps 1-6

Note:
The Nokia 3660 phone data and fax modem drivers will be installed automatically during the setup.

If you are using Windows XP you need to update the Nokia 3660 phone infrared driver after installing the Nokia Modem Options.
