Data Bearers

The Nokia 3200 phone operates in GSM 900/1800/1900 networks.

Your Nokia 3200 phone automatically switches between operating frequencies depending on the available GSM network. Please notice that there is no Dial-up options in this phone.

EGPRS

The Nokia 3200 phone has the EGPRS (Enhanced GPRS) technology built-in. GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a network service that allows mobile phones to be used for sending and receiving data over an Internet Protocol (IP)-based network. Via a GPRS connection you can, for example, send and receive multimedia messages (network service). EGPRS (Enhanced GPRS) is similar to GPRS but enables faster connections.

To use the (E)GPRS service in your Nokia 3200 phone, subscribe to it from your network operator or service provider and save the GPRS settings for the functions that you want to use over the (E)GPRS network. For information on pricing, availability and data transfer speed, contact your network operator or service provider.

Note: When you have selected GPRS as a data bearer, the phone uses EGPRS instead of GPRS if this is available in the network. You cannot choose between EGPRS and GPRS but for some applications, such as browsing WAP or xHTML pages, you may be able to select either GPRS or GSM data (CSD, Circuit Switched Data).

GSM Data and HSCSD

If you choose not to use EGPRS for data transfer, you can also use GSM Data or HSCSD.

HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data) allows transmission of data at a maximum rate of 43.2 kbps. A GSM data call allows the transmission of data a maximum rate of 14.4 kbps. For more information about the availability and cost of EPGRS, GSM Data and HSCSD, contact your network operator.
