Connecting your Phone and a Compatible PC

There are two ways to connect your phone to your compatible PC:

  • Infrared
  • Cable - connects to the USB port on your compatible PC. The Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5 is available as an enhancement for your Nokia 3200 phone

The connection between your phone and your comatible PC is made through the Nokia Connection Manager that is automatically installed when you install the PC Suite 5.64. A simple way to access the Nokia Connection Manager is to double click the phone icon that appears on your task bar (see figure 1)

Figure 1

Once you have double clicked the phone icon on your task bar, the Connection Manager will open (see figure 2).

Figure 2

The connection types are managed using the four icons at the top of the Connection Manager. The yellow icon manages the cable connection, the red icon manages the infrared connection, the blue icon manages the Bluetooth connection (not available for the Nokia 3200 phone) and the black icon manages the USB connection (not available for Nokia the 3200 phone).

If your phone is physically connected to a compatible PC, but you cannot get the PC Suite to recognize the connection:

  1. Click the icon that represents the connection type that you have chosen
  2. The name of your phone should now be shown on the Connection Manager. If it is, select the name of your phone and then click Apply and then OK (or double-click)

If the above steps do not work, check that your infrared connection (if you are using it) is active in your phone. If you are using a cable connection, use the Advanced button in the Connection Manager to check that the correct com port (the same one that was selected during installation) is selected. Additionally, check that there is no other application (such as a PC application for another phone or pocket PC) using the COM ports. If there is such an application, you should close it.

If the connection still does not work, you should try rebooting both your phone and the PC.
