Predictive text input
You can key in text in two different ways, using the traditional text input
, or predictive text input (built-in dictionary)
. To quickly change the text input method when writing text, press
twice. You may also change the dictionary you are using: press Options and select Dictionary. Select a new dictionary from the list.
Inserting a word with predictive text input
To insert a word when using the predictive text input, press Options and select Insert word. Write the word using the traditional text input and press Save. The word is also added to the dictionary.
Adding a number in a message
To add a number, press and hold the desired key. If you want to add a long sequence of digits to your message, press and hold
to change to number mode.
Special characters
To get a list of special characters, press and hold
, select the character you want, and press Use. In traditional text input, you can also add punctuation marks and certain special characters by pressing
repeatedly.
Deleting all characters
To delete all the characters at once when writing a message, press Options and select Clear text.
Templates
To use a predefined text as a base for the message, press Options and select Use template and the desired template.
Editing a template text
You can create your own template texts. Select Messages > Text messages > Templates. Open one of the template messages by pressing Select. Press Options and select Edit and As text message. After editing the text, press Options and select Save message.
Picking up a phone number
If you want to copy the sender's phone number from the message, open the message, press Options and select Use detail and Phone Number. Select the phone number and press Options. You can choose to create a new contact card (Save) or to update an existing one (Add to contact).
Inserting contact details in a message
To insert a name or number from the contacts list, press Options, select More options, and Insert contact and the desired name or Insert number.
Sending a message to many recipients
To send a message to many recipients, press Options and select Send to many. Press Options, select Search number or Search e-mail, and select the recipients one by one from the contacts list. To send the message, press
, or press Done and Options and select Send.
Creating new folders for messages
To add a folder to My folders, press Add (if the folder list is empty), or press Options and select Add folder. To delete or rename a folder, press Options and select the desired function.
Copying the message text to the calendar
Open a message and press Options. Scroll to Copy to calendar to copy the message text to your phone's calendar as a memo.
Multimedia messages
A multimedia message can contain text, picture and sound. The phone supports multimedia messages of size up to 45 kB in size.
Extract an image from MMS
You can save an image you received in a multimedia message. Open the message that contains the picture, press Options and select Save image. Name your picture and select a folder in which to save the image in the Gallery application.
Multiple pages in a multimedia message
Your phone supports multimedia messages that contain several pages. To add a new slide to the message, press Options and select Insert and Slide. Each slide can contain text, one image and one sound clip.
Security with multimedia messages
Multimedia message objects may contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your device. Do not open any attachment if you are not sure of the trustworthiness of the sender.
Delivery reports for multimedia messages
Press Menu, and select Messages, Message settings and Multimedia msgs. Select Delivery reports to request the network to send delivery reports about your messages (network service).
