Chat
The chat feature lets you "talk" using SMS messages with your friends and family, while keeping track of the whole conversation.
Conference Call
Conference calling allows you to bring two or more persons into the call at once. The maximum number amount of participants is four. The conference call feature must be activated by the network carrier.
Countdown Timer
A phone feature that allows to you count time backwards. Handy for example when you need to remind yourself of when to take the boiling eggs off from the stove.
Distribution list
If you need to send messages frequently to a fixed group of recipients, distribution lists you can define a distribution list and use it when sending a message. You can define up to 6 distribution lists with up to 10 recipients in each. The phone sends a text message to each recipient separately.
Network services
These are special services you arrange through your wireless service provider. Before you can take advantage of any of these Network Services, you must subscribe to them through your service provider and obtain instructions for their use from your service provider. Some networks may not support all language-dependent characters and/or services.
OTA service
Over The Air (OTA) download of ringing tones, picture messages, and other content to your mobile phone.
Picture Messaging
Send and receive picture messages as well as text. Choose from several preset and/or received pictures stored in your phone. Picture messages are saved in the phone. Note that each picture message comprises several text messages. Therefore, sending one picture message may cost more than one text message. This function can be used only if it is supported by your network operator or service provider. Only phones that offer picture message features can receive and display picture messages.
PIN
PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a code used in conjunction with a SIM card to complete a call or data transmission. The service provider may require a PIN code for use with outbound calling to help guard against cellular fraud.
Profile
A profile is a collection of settings needed for sending text and picture messages. It is also a term for customized phone tones for different events and environments.
Security code
A number used to prevent unauthorized or accidental alteration of data programmed into wireless phones. The security code can be used by the owner of the phone to change the lock code.
SIM
A Subscriber Identity Module is a card commonly used in a GSM phone.
The card holds a microchip that stores information and encrypts voice and data transmissions, making it close to impossible to listen in on calls. The SIM card also stores data that identifies the caller to the network service provider. Your SIM card contains all the information about your phone, such as phone number, account, etc. so that you can access the wireless network and use your phone's features. This card comes from your wireless service provider.
Smiley
Put some passion into your messages - say it with a smiley :-). Just select the smiley you want to use from the ready-made collection in the phone.
SMS message
Short Message Service (SMS) is a feature available with some wireless phones that allow users to send and/or receive short alphanumeric messages.
Speed dialing
The touch of one key (key 2-9) to activate a call to a certain person. Key 1 is usually reserved for the voice mailbox.
Standby mode
This is the mode when the phone is ready for use and no characters have been keyed in by the user.
Templates
The Nokia 2300 phone has ready-made templates to enable you to quickly to answer SMS messages.
Unicode characters
Unicode characters are also more extensively called special characters. For example, Cyrillic characters are Unicode characters.
Welcome note
A message that is will be shown briefly on the display when the phone is switched on.
