Using WAP Services

WAP services, such as online games or news, are specifically designed for mobile phones.

Basic steps to start using WAP services:

1. Obtain and save the connection settings for the WAP service you want to use. When you receive the connection settings as a text message, Service settings received is displayed. To view the received settings, select Show. To save the received settings, select Options > Save.

Activate the settings of the WAP service that you want to use: Select Services > Settings > Conn. settings. Scroll to the setting set you want to use and select Options > Activate.

2. Make a connection to the WAP service. The quickest way to do this is to press and hold 0 (the zero key). Note that this shortcut key does not work if you have keyed in any characters on the display. This also requires that the home page is defined. This is usually included in the service settings.

3. Browse the pages of the WAP service. Follow the text guides on the display. Here are some general guidelines

  • Use the scroll-up and scroll-down keys to browse the WAP page and highlight a desired item.
  • Press the Navi key to select a highlighted item.
  • Press the clear/exit key to return to the WAP page that you viewed previously.

4. End the connection to the WAP service. Select Options > Quit. When Quit browsing? is shown, select Yes. The phone ends the call and closes the WAP connection.

How do I key in the addresses of WAP services? Do I have key in the address manually every time?
Enter the address of the WAP service: Select Services > Go to address, key in the address (press * for special characters) and select OK. Your phone now connects to the service. Save all the important WAP addresses in you phone’s Bookmarks. A practical way to do this is while you are browsing. When a WAP connection is in progress, select Options > Bookmarks > Save bookmark to save the current WAP page as a bookmark.
